On line Seminars looking at Forgivness in relation to Domestic Violence.
Next seminar - 23rd October 2025
Throughout 2025, Joint Churches Domestic Violence Prevention Project (JCDVPP), have been presenting a series of online seminars on different aspects of Domestic Violence. The last two, together with the seminar on 23rd October, have featured forgiveness, recognising that victims often want to forgive, but the anger and hurt can return again and again.
The first seminar on forgiveness featured an interview with a survivor of Domestic Violence, looking at their personal journey of forgiveness. The session draws on the work of Lysa Terkeurst in her book, "forgiving What You Can't Forget". The session goes through seven steps in forgiving outlined in the book.

The second seminar on forgiveness, "as we forgive others?", looks at the Lord Prayer and other parts of the bible that ask us to forgive others. It asks the question, how might these verses be viewed by victims of DV and if the forgiveness of God has conditions attached. The seminar also looks at the writings of theologian Miroslav Volf on forgiveness and grace.
