The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is traditionally celebrated between 18-25 January (in the northern hemisphere) or at Pentecost (in the southern hemisphere), by congregations and parishes all over the world. We in Australia will be observing the week from 8 – 15 May 2016.

The theme for the 2016 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is; Called to proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord (1 Peter 2:9).  In contrast to last year, the liturgy for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has been prepared by the churches of one of the smallest nations on earth.  Last year the Week of Prayer material was produced by Brazil, the fifth largest nation by both area and population.  This year, 2016, the material is the work of the churches of Latvia, the nation ranked 124th in the world by area and 148th by population.

The following resource material is available for use:

  1. 2016 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity poster - Word and PDF formats (both have an area to edit your service time for promotions)
  2. Order of Worship - Word format only.  Congregations are encouraged to adapt the Order of Service for use in their church's service for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity; including the selection of hymns where indicated.
  3. Eight Days Reflection - PDF format only
  4. Sermon notes - PDF format only

Prayer Cards are available for purchase at $10 for 25 cards, plus postage.  Contact QCT to place an order.
