We celebrated the World Week of Prayer for Christian Unity on 3 June at Sacred Heart Church Rosalie.

The world fellowship of the Christian faith was shown in a liturgy for this year’s service prepared in Canada and including a blessing based prayers of on the Native American People. Gifts presented by the member churches during the service symbolised the contributions of the churches to Christianity over time and also within Australia.

Bishop Doug Stevens spoke on the misuse of power to oppress and divide, and the importance of power which unites.

It was good to share the event with outgoing General Secretary of the National Council of Churches in Australia, Rev Tara Curlewis.

And of course the fellowship afterwards.

The sharing of worship with each other but also the reminder that we are part of a movement following Christ’s wish “that they all may be one” made it a memorable occasion for all of us.
